Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician for night shifts, field-based across the Nottingham area. Attend breakdowns, diagnose faults and perform roadside repairs to restore member mobility and service coverage.

You will need at least Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance (Level 3 preferred) and a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience, plus a full UK driving licence (max 6 points). Overtime and bonus schemes boost earning potential.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Full UK driving licence with up to 6 points; no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs, including battery replacements and wheel changes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and advise members on next steps.
• Provide temporary solutions to restore mobility and coordinate recovery if needed.
• Work safely in varied environments and shifts.

Roadside Technician NIGHTS (Field based)

providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

Location: Nottingham

Pay / salary:

£42,921.87 OTE: In Excess of £53,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12pm, Monday to Sunday. Shifts known 4 months in advance. Flexi and / or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home, as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.

• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

What you'll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• A customer-focused approach
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans
