Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Roadside Technician (field based) for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Salary starts at £36,400, with OTE in excess of £60,000 and potential to earn £70,000–£80,000.

The role is permanent, full-time and based in Slough, with a 40-hour week and optional overtime. You will respond to roadside incidents, diagnose faults, and perform on-site repairs using diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Customer-focused with good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a mobile environment.
• Must have a Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and emergency callouts.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside repairs, including batteries and tyres.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and determine repair options.
• Provide safe and efficient roadside assistance to customers.
• Communicate clearly with customers and provide reassurance during breakdown situations.
