Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is recruiting a Roadside Technician (field-based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company. The role is permanent/full-time in Luton, with 40-hour weeks, shifts between 6am and 12am, and opportunities to earn OTE well over £60,000.

Candidates should have a Level 2 (ideally Level 3) qualification in light vehicle maintenance and at least two years of hands-on experience, plus a full UK driving licence (6 points max).

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally Level 3 qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery changes and wheel changes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible to ensure member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments.

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

What youll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
