Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Roadside Technician (field-based) to provide roadside assistance for a national breakdown company in Central Birmingham. The role offers a strong base salary with extensive overtime/bonus potential and a route to earnings well over £60k.

You will work 40 hours per week, shifts across 6am–12am, with overtime opportunities and comprehensive benefits. Must have right to work in the UK and a full UK driving license.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points (no bans).

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside repairs: battery replacements, wheel changes, minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions to keep members mobile when full repair isn't possible.
• Advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely in varied environments and conditions.

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

What you'll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
