Job summary

The AA is seeking Roadside Rescue Mechanics to join our UK-wide team. You’ll start and finish from your driveway, working in a van with paid travel from start to finish.

You’ll be the friendly face for our members, using your technical skills and clear communication to restore progress on the road. We expect NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent), a full UK driving licence (6 points or fewer), and flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and holidays.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent experience.
• Clear communication and customer service mindset.
• Willingness to work varied shifts, including evenings/weekends/bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Starting and finishing on your driveway with paid time in van.
• Work independently across varied locations while being part of a supportive team.
• Apply technical knowledge to deliver positive customer experiences.
• Handle roadside situations calmly and resolve issues on the spot.

Shifts: As a patrol you will work on average 40 hour week with a variety of shift pattern options available, you have the flexibility to choose a schedule that best suits your personal and professional needs. The number of rest days you enjoy each year, as well as the length of your shifts will vary based on the shift pattern you select.

What will I be doing?

• Starting and finishing on your driveway paid from the moment you get in your van to the moment you get home.
• Working independently across varied locations and conditions, while remaining a valued part of a supportive team.
• Using your technical knowledge and clear communication to help ensure a positive customer experience.
• Solving problems on the spot, using your technical skills and calm approach to handle a wide range of roadside situations.

What do I need?

• NVQ3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with appropriate experience
• It’s essential that you have a full category B driving licence, with 6 points or less
• Confidence using and adapting to new technology we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays because breakdowns don’t stick to a schedule.
