Job summary

Aatom Recruitment is recruiting for a Highways Programme Delivery Officer in Bexleyheath. This role coordinates highways projects from feasibility to completion on a 12-month contract with hybrid working and a 36-hour week.

The role focuses on managing resurfacing and patching, liaising with contractors and internal teams, and ensuring street works permits are processed on time. Strong reporting and stakeholder skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in programme coordination, project delivery, or contract management within highways, civil engineering, infrastructure, or local government environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work with contractors and internal teams.
• Experience maintaining project programmes, performance data, and management reports.
• Good understanding of highways maintenance activities and street works permitting processes.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and track highways projects throughout their full lifecycle, from conception through to completion.
• Manage and monitor resurfacing, patching, and maintenance programmes.
• Liaise regularly with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure delivery milestones are achieved.
• Monitor street works permit applications, ensuring permits are submitted, approved, and scheduled within required timescales.
• Maintain accurate programme schedules, performance trackers, and project records.
• Produce regular reports and progress updates for officers, senior management, and elected members.
• Attend management meetings and present programme performance information where required.
• Support responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests by providing accurate project and programme data.
• Identify delivery risks and issues and work proactively with stakeholders to resolve them.
