Job summary

Aatom Recruitment is seeking an experienced Highways Programme Delivery Officer to join a local authority on a 12-month contract in Bexleyheath. The role covers coordinating highways projects from feasibility to completion, with hybrid working and a 36-hour week.

Qualifications

• Experience in programme coordination, project delivery, or contract management within highways or local government environments.
• Strong stakeholder management with contractors and internal teams.
• Experience maintaining project programmes, performance data, and management reports.
• Good understanding of highways maintenance activities and street works permitting processes.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and track highways projects throughout their full lifecycle, from conception through to completion.
• Manage and monitor resurfacing, patching, and maintenance programmes.
• Liaise regularly with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure delivery milestones are achieved.
• Monitor street works permit applications, ensuring permits are submitted, approved, and scheduled within required timescales.
• Maintain accurate programme schedules, performance trackers, and project records.
• Produce regular reports and progress updates for officers, senior management, and elected members.
• Attend management meetings and present programme performance information where required.
• Support responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests by providing accurate project and programme data.
• Identify delivery risks and issues and work proactively with stakeholders to resolve them.
