Zusammenfassung

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Highway Maintenance Operative to join our Highways team. You will drive and operate vehicle fleets, carry out pre-shift checks and support safe, efficient road maintenance across the county.

You will be responsible for setting up traffic safety measures, carrying out pothole repairs and drainage work, and assisting with kerbing, reinstatement, and general highway duties on site.

Qualifikationen

• HGV licence is essential.
• Ability to work unsupervised between sites.
• Knowledge of driving legislation and regulations.

Aufgaben

• Drive and operate truck-mounted or compact sweeping vehicles along designated routes.
• Conduct daily walk-around and mechanical safety checks, ensuring vehicle roadworthiness.
• Adjust gutter brooms and brushes to gather dirt, litter, leaves and grit.
• Operate dust suppression systems to minimise airborne particles.
• Empty collection hoppers and transport waste to licensed facilities, following regs.
• Set up temporary traffic management to protect crew and public.
• Dig and repair road structures, locate underground services, backfill surfaces.
• Cut and lay new patches of asphalt, tarmac or concrete.
• Assist with kerbing, paving, drainage and minor landscaping reinstatement.
• Clear gully pots and drains, lay pipes and operate jetting equipment.
• Adjust manhole covers, signs and safety fencing.
• Prepare and operate smaller tools and carry materials as directed.
