Job summary

Newcastle City Council is seeking a civil engineering professional to advise on highway road markings, reading and interpreting detailed drawings to ensure safe, compliant schemes across the city.

You will support delivery and maintenance of road marking schemes, mentor colleagues and apprentices, and help deliver environmental improvements on the highway network in line with council policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in civil engineering construction works and highway maintenance.
  • Ability to read detailed plans and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues relevant to construction on highways.

What the role will involve?

You will play an integral role in delivering positive outcomes for the City by providing expert advice and guidance on highway road markings. You will possess a thorough understanding of road marking design principles and be able to accurately interpret design specifications, technical information, and detailed engineering drawings relating to highway road markings. Your knowledge and expertise will support the effective planning, implementation, and maintenance of road marking schemes, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the highway network.

You will be supporting and advising colleagues and apprentices whilst complying to Newcastle City Councils policies and procedures.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a real team player and someone who can read detailed plans to carry out work to specification. Also, someone who has a real passion to ensure the safety of residents and visitors to the City.

You should have experience and knowledge of all aspects of civil engineering construction works, with knowledge of construction related health and safety issues, to support the delivery of environmental improvement schemes on the highway network across the city.
