Newcastle City Council is seeking a team player with civil engineering experience to help improve city highways through driveways, footpath reconstruction, and wall repairs. You will read detailed plans and ensure work matches specifications while prioritising safety for residents and visitors.
The role involves supporting colleagues and apprentices, delivering environmental improvements across the highway network, and contributing to a positive city-wide impact.

Do you like working outdoors? Would you like to make a real difference in the city for residents and visitors? If you have experience of working in a civil engineering environment and Ad-Hoc Highways Maintenance, then this could be just the opportunity for you.
You will be integral in making a positive impact to the City by constructing Driveways, Footway reconstruction, Repairs to Steps, footpaths and walls; interpreting design detailed drawings in relations to these construction works.
You will be supporting and advising colleagues and apprentices whilst complying to Newcastle City Councils policies and procedures.
We are looking for a real team player and someone who can read detailed plans to carry out work to specification. Also, someone who has a real passion to ensure the safety of residents and visitors to the City.
You should have experience and knowledge of all aspects of civil engineering construction works, with knowledge of construction related health and safety issues, to support the delivery of environmental improvement schemes on the highway network across the city.
