Job summary

National Highways is recruiting Traffic Officers to be based at Potters Bar/South Mimms area. You will manage incidents on the strategic road network, coordinate with emergency services and responders, and work as part of a 24/7 team on a 6 days on, 3 days off rota.

The role requires a full driving licence with minimal points, and you should live within an hour’s commute of the vacancy. Salary starts up to £37,762.50, rising to £39,262.50 after 9 months probation, with shift allowances included.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence with no more than 3 points is required.
• Experience of motorway driving is essential.
• Knowledge of and commitment to workplace safety.
• Provide high-quality customer service.
• Self-motivated team player who can work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve incidents on the strategic road network with safe, timely action.
• Work within a team to meet performance targets.
• Communicate updates to colleagues, partners, stakeholders and customers using radios and mobile devices.
• Take personal responsibility for safety of self and others and report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain records of vehicles and equipment.
