Job summary

Tall Grass Recruitment is seeking a commercially driven Road Freight Business Development Manager in Tamworth to grow its customer base and develop opportunities across the road freight market. The role requires a proven BD track record in logistics with knowledge of FTL, groupage, and EU freight.

You will identify and win new business, build relationships, tailor transport solutions, and manage quotations through onboarding while coordinating with operations to ensure smooth handovers.

Qualifications

• A proven track record in business development within road freight or logistics.
• Experience generating new business and achieving sales or gross profit targets.
• Knowledge of road freight services; experience with FTL, groupage and EU freight is desirable.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• A self-motivated, organised approach and the ability to manage your own pipeline.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to meet customers.

Responsibilities

• Identify and win new road freight business
• Build relationships with prospective customers and develop existing accounts
• Understand customer requirements and propose suitable transport solutions
• Prepare and present quotations and commercial proposals
• Manage the sales process from initial contact through to onboarding
• Work closely with operations to ensure a smooth handover for new accounts
• Monitor market activity and identify opportunities for growth
• Work towards agreed sales and gross profit targets
