Job summary

Viking Trainee Stateroom Steward/ess role aboard our River vessels offers hands-on training in room and public area cleaning, plus laundry operations. The training lasts 2–5 weeks, after which Viking may consider you for the role you trained for.

You will receive paid training, on‑the‑job coaching, and a pathway to transfer to other ships within the fleet. Requirements include English knowledge (B1) and a willingness to learn; prior hospitality internship is helpful.

Qualifications

  • English knowledge at least B1.
  • Prior hospitality internship or exposure preferred.
  • Able to perform physical tasks and stand for long periods.
  • Positive, open-minded and customer‑focused attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to clean guest rooms and public areas to Viking standards.
  • Learn laundry procedures and operate laundry facilities on board.
  • Attend practical and theoretical training sessions and complete assignments.
  • Assist with general housekeeping duties during training and probation.

Role Overview

Part of our Housekeeping team on our River vessels, the Trainee Stateroom Steward/ess will be learning more about the position and what it is like to work onboard one of our river ships. Training program can be completed in 2-5 weeks. Upon completion, Viking will consider you for the position for which you were trained. The Trainee Stateroom Steward/ess reports to Functional Trainer.

  • Learn how to clean rooms and public areas according to the company standards
  • Learn how to work in a laundry according to the company standards
  • Attend practical and theoretical assignments
