Job Description:

Responsibilities:

• Deliver health, safety, and environmental risk strategies as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implement and maintain ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Own and manage company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring compliance and adequacy.
• Lead the Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness program to embed positive safety behaviors and culture.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance, such as HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade bodies.
• Investigate incidents and accidents thoroughly, escalate severity appropriately, and liaise with external stakeholders like emergency services and media.

About you:

• At least NEBOSH Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems.
• Auditing qualifications and experience.
• Environmental risk management qualifications.
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels.
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided).
