Risk and Safety Compliance Advisor (Hiring Immediately), Milton Keynes

This role involves nationwide travel and is based in Milton Keynes. The position is with Smiths News, a leading UK news wholesaler.

About the role

• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Serving as the Subject Matter Expert on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Owning and managing company health and safety policies, training programs, and audit regimes.
• Leading the Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness program to promote positive safety behaviors and culture.
• Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and trade associations.
• Ensuring incidents and accidents are properly investigated and liaising with external agencies as needed.

About you

• At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated management systems.
• Auditing qualifications and experience.
• Environmental risk management qualifications.
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
• A valid UK driving license (company vehicle may be provided).
