Job summary

Public Health Wales is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker (Retinal Photographer) to guide participants through diabetic eye screening, administer eye drops, and capture retinal images. The role includes driving a light goods vehicle across Wales and training toward a retinal screening diploma.

Candidates must have a full UK driving licence and a commitment to following DESW protocols and confidentiality standards in a patient-facing NHS setting.

Qualifications

• Good manual dexterity and the ability to handle delicate eye imaging equipment.
• CPD and commitment to continuous learning.
• Evidence of appropriate general education.

Responsibilities

• Guide participants through screening appointments and keep accurate records.
• Administer eye drops and check pupil dilation within set timeframes.
• Capture high-quality digital retinal images using specialised cameras.
• Follow DESW protocols and standard operating procedures strictly.
• Drive the Trust's light goods vehicle to clinic venues across Wales.
