Job summary

Cook Trading Limited in Bedford is hiring a Retail Team Member to join the COOK team. You will welcome customers, offer menu ideas, and help with catering for occasions while keeping the shop clean and well stocked.

The role involves till duties, stock checks, deliveries, and daily shop opening/closing tasks. Prior retail experience is helpful, but we train people with the right attitude. Casual hours and a competitive wage apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing roles is welcome but not required.
• Proven ability to operate a till accurately and efficiently.
• Familiarity with stock replenishment and store cleanliness is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Offer remarkable service, prioritising the customer.
• Help customers plan menus or catering for occasions and discuss offers and promotions.
• Keep the shop immaculate, stock replenished and freezers full.
• Operate the till efficiently and accurately.
• Understand shop paperwork and the purpose of necessary legal checks.
• Open and close the shop and perform end-of-day reconciliation.
• Check deliveries, place orders, and assist with stock taking.
• Wear apron and name badge at all times.

The Role

• Offer remarkable service, the customer is always more important than anything else you are doing.
• Use your knowledge to help customers plan menus or advise on catering for occasions. Talk to customers about upcoming offers, products and promotions.
• We are a food business - make sure the shop always looks immaculate, clean and spotless, stock is replenished and rotated, and the freezers are full.
• Be a whizz on the till. Operate it efficiently and accurately.
• Understand the shop paperwork, necessary legal checks and their purpose.
• Open up the shop. Close the shop,End-of-day reconciliation
• Check in deliveries and placing orders, assist with stock taking as required.
• Look smart with apron, and name badge on at all times.

Good to Have

If you are a foodie then great, but we will train you to know our products, including how and where they are made, and to understand what dishes suit which occasions.

Experience not necessary but previous experience of working in Retail or in a customer facing role would be the icing on the cake.
