Job summary

The National Trust shop at Nymans Garden, Haywards Heath, is seeking a Retail Team Member to welcome visitors, answer questions and help them get the most from their day. The role operates 15 hours per week on Thursdays and Saturdays, with a fixed-term contract until 31 August 2027.

You’ll support customers in-store, keep displays tidy, assist with deliveries and discuss how purchases fund the National Trust’s work. Online assessment required instead of a CV.

Job description

We're looking for a Retail Team Member to welcome visitors to the National Trust shop at Nymans Garden, answer their questions and help them make the most of their day.

Salary: £12.75 per hour

Contract Duration: Fixed term until 31st August 2027

Working Hours: You'll work 15 hours per week,Thursdays and Saturdays, from9am to 5pm.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

As a member of the retail team, you’ll be offering visitors help and advice with their shopping. You’ll have high standards of presentation in the shop while providing excellent service to all customers.

You’ll also be able to talk to them about how everything they buy helps to fund the work of the National Trust. Other duties may include arranging, receiving and unpacking deliveries, creating shop displays and working with others in the team to keep the shop floor clean and organised.

At times you may be required to work in the plant sales area, assisting with unpacking deliveries, watering and general maintenance.
