Job summary

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking a commercially minded Retail Manager to lead its South Tyneside operation. You will own day-to-day store performance, balance sales management with hands-on leadership, and drive exceptional customer service for both retail and trade customers.

The role requires managing a six-day operating schedule with Saturday rotations, and a proactive approach to promotions, local marketing and staff development in a competitive retail environment.

• Proven experience in retail management or sales leadership.
• Able to drive sales, hit targets and improve business performance.
• Strong leadership to motivate and develop a team.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales performance, ensuring targets and KPIs are achieved.
• Lead and develop the team, providing guidance, motivation and support.
• Deliver an excellent customer experience for retail and trade customers.
• Identify opportunities to attract new customers and grow revenue.
• Raise the store’s profile through local promotions and marketing.
• Manage staff rotas to cover six days a week and deliveries.
• Oversee stock handling, inventory accuracy and stock records.
• Maintain competitive pricing and monitor profitability.
• Ensure orders and administrative processes are completed accurately.
• Maintain high standards of store presentation and customer service.
• Follow health and safety procedures and operate safely.
• Assist with physical handling of heavy appliances as needed.
