Job summary

St Michael’s Hospice in Hastings is seeking a part-time Distribution and Logistics driver to support our shops and warehouse in the Hastings area. You will collect and deliver items using 3.5 tonne box vans, with tail lift operation, and work as part of a small team.

A full, clean UK driving licence is required; you must be flexible for occasional evenings or weekends to support retail events. The role pattern is Monday to Friday 7:30–12:00 with pro rata salary stated above.

• Collect and deliver items to and from St Michael’s Hospice shops and warehouse across Hastings and Rother.
• Work as part of the Distribution and Logistics team with good communication and customer service to donors and staff.
• Occasionally cover other roles in the warehouse during staff absence or busy periods.

The role:

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hands‑on person with a full, clean UK driving licence to join our Retail team. If you enjoy being on the move, working with people and making a real difference, this varied role could be for you. By keeping donations and stock moving across our shops, you’ll help raise vital funds for St Michael’s Hospice.

As an experienced driver with a clean driving licence, you will be familiar with 3.5 tonne box vans and the safe operation of a tail lift and long wheel base 3.5 tonne transit vans.

You will be working as part of the Distribution and Logistics team, collecting and delivering items to and from our shops and warehouse, which are situated in Hastings and Rother. Reliable and hardworking, you will be physically fit with good local geographical knowledge.

As you will be working within a team you will have good communication and organisational skills and demonstrate high levels of customer service to our donors, volunteers and staff. In addition to your primary role, you will on occasion be required to cover for other roles in the warehouse team during staff absence or busy periods.

On occasion you may have to work on your own and therefore need a high level of self‑motivation. You need to be flexible to cover holidays, sickness and changing business needs. There may be some evening and weekend work to support retail events for which you will receive time off in lieu.

The work pattern will be Monday - Friday 7.30 - 12.00
