St Leonard’s Hospice, a charity based in York, is seeking a part-time Retail Driver to support the Home Collection service. You will work in a two-person team, driving between shops and the Donation Centre, collecting and moving stock, and maintaining the vehicle.

The role requires a friendly, empathetic approach and strong team collaboration. Hours are 22.5 per week, 8am–4pm, three days over seven, based at Clifton Moor Head Office.

Qualifications

• Experience of driving a variety of vehicles including larger vans.
• Good customer service skills and the ability to be sensitive and empathetic with the public.
• Experience of working as part of a team.
• Strong time management and prioritisation abilities.

Are you a hands-on, reliable and experienced driver? Are you looking to work for a highly regarded York-based charity and give back to the local community?

At St Leonard’s Hospice, we have a great opportunity for a part-time Retail Driver to join our driving team to help maximise income generation within the Home Collection service.

Working in a team of two each day, your main priorities as a Retail Driver will be to:

• Safely drive between the shops and Donation Centre which are based in York and the surrounding area
• Assist with the collection and moving of stock which includes bags of clothing, crates, boxes and furniture
• Be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Experience of driving a variety of vehicles which includes larger vans
• Good customer service skills and the ability to be sensitive and empathetic when working with the public
• Experience of working as part of a team
• A ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to manage time and prioritise tasks

Experience of collecting and delivering goods is desirable and ideally, you will possess a good geographical knowledge of York and the surrounding area. This role is physically demanding too as there is a significant amount of lifting, moving and handling of items which can include stock items, heavy donation bags and light pieces of furniture.

This is a part-time position working 22.5 hours per week between 8am and 4pm, 3 days over 7 and will be based out of our new Income Generation Head Office which is at Clifton Moor, York, YO30 4TU. The salary for this role is £15,404.40 per annum pro rata (FTE £25,674 per annum).
