Job summary

Booker is seeking an experienced Credit Controller for our Retail team. You will manage a portfolio of customer accounts across diverse retailers, proactively chasing payments and ensuring balances are kept within terms.

You will build strong relationships with internal teams and customers, driving cash recovery while maintaining high accuracy and timely cash allocations. This role requires organised, proactive individuals with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Credit Control environment.
• Experience using SAP.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and proactively solve problems.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills with stakeholders.
• Attention to detail when handling financial information and payment allocations.
• Collaborative yet capable of working independently.
• Commercial awareness of cash collection and credit risk.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (Branch, Depot, Customer Services, Retail Sales teams, National Account Sales).
• Develop professional relationships with customers and provide a customer-focused service.
• Proactively manage collection activity to maximise cash recovery and minimise delinquent debt.
• Manage failed payments and suspend trading until payment is received.
• Collaborate with the Debt Collection team for delinquent debt recovery.
• Resolve customer queries to minimise payment delays and ensure prompt payment.
• Work with Sales Ledger to ensure timely cash allocation.
• Monitor and manage customer credit limits to support business needs.
• Produce weekly aged debt reports detailing overdue balances.
• Monthly ledger reviews for Credit Insurance referrals.
