Job summary

Booker Group plc is recruiting an experienced Credit Controller to join the Retail team. You will manage a portfolio of accounts, proactively chase payments and collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve cash collection and minimize aging debt.

The role requires strong communication, organisation and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on delivering professional service to customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Credit Control environment, with a strong understanding of Credit Management, Debt Recovery and Cash Collection.
• Experience using SAP would be considered preferred.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks to deadlines.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders across Branch, Depot, Customer Services and Sales teams.
• Develop lasting relationships with customers, delivering professional, customer-focused service.
• Proactively manage collection activity to maximise cash recovery and minimise doubtful debt.
• Manage failed payments and suspend trading until payment is received.
• Collaborate with the Debt Collection team for delinquent debt recovery.
• Resolve queries to minimise payment delays and ensure prompt payment.
• Coordinate with Sales Ledger to ensure timely cash allocation.
• Monitor and manage customer credit limits to minimise risk.
• Produce weekly aged debt detail reports; conduct monthly ledger reviews for Credit Insurance referrals.
