Job Description:

A leading provider of support services for individuals with learning disabilities committed to empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives is seeking a creative and organised Support Worker to join their team in Warrington.

This key role involves leading the operation of a vibrant on-site and online gift and flower shop, providing a dynamic environment where individuals with learning disabilities can develop practical skills, build confidence, and gain independence. Through day-to-day retail activities such as merchandising, pricing, customer service, and online sales, you will support learners in developing essential life and employability skills.

You will also oversee retail operations, manage volunteers, and coordinate seasonal campaigns, ensuring all activities reflect the organisations core values of respect, inclusion, and personal growth.

As the Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the daily running of the on-site and online gift/flower shop, ensuring alignment with each learners Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and delivering a high-quality retail experience.
  • Coach learners in practical retail tasks including stock handling, point-of-sale operation, customer service, online selling, and cash-handling, fostering confidence and independence.
  • Promote dignity, respect, and positive behaviour by embedding safeguarding, health and safety practices, and proactive behaviour support across all activities.
  • Manage stock control, barcoding, pricing, purchasing, and inventory tracking, while monitoring budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and profitability.
  • Plan and implement seasonal campaigns, special promotions, and product launches in collaboration with learners, incorporating local market research to stay competitive.
  • Produce engaging content for social media and ecommerce platforms, encouraging learner involvement to boost shop visibility and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress and shop operations, and oversee the performance of support staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Encourage learners to explore pathways such as volunteering, employment, or further education through meaningful enterprise-based experiences.

The Support Worker will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Proven experience in managing a retail store and promoting products via social media or online marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace.
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or complex care needs would be a distinct advantage.
  • Minimum qualification requirement is a Care Certification (preferably Level 2 or willing to work towards).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act, and inclusive support principles.
  • Comfortable and respectful in delivering personal care when required.

You will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Appointment will be subject to DBS clearance, right to work checks and satisfactory references.
