Job summary

ServiceMaster Restore is seeking a skilled Restoration Technician in Birmingham to perform mitigation and restoration for residential and commercial properties. You will handle water extraction, drying, smoke and fire cleanup, and structural repairs while maintaining safety and customer service standards.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift 50+ lbs, and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in restoration, mitigation, construction, general labor, or skilled trades preferred.
• Knowledge of water damage restoration, mold remediation, or fire damage cleanup a plus.
• IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, FSRT) preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in varied environments.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and emergency calls.

Responsibilities

• Perform water extraction, structural drying, fire and smoke mitigation.
• Set up, monitor, and remove restoration equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers).
• Perform controlled demolition and removal of damaged materials.
• Clean, sanitize, and restore structural materials and contents.
• Take moisture readings using meters and thermal imaging tools.
• Document job progress with photos and mobile job management software.
• Maintain safe, organized, and professional job sites.
• Communicate clearly with customers, adjusters, and team members.
• Follow OSHA safety standards, PPE requirements, and company procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency response services.
