Job summary

Bishopstrow Hotel in Wiltshire is seeking a Restaurant & Bar Supervisor with strong bar skills to lead shifts, manage service and support the Restaurant & Bar Manager.

You'll work hands-on behind the bar, craft cocktails and recommend drinks, train the team, monitor stock and guest experience, and help maintain high standards across restaurant and bar.

Qualifications

• Strong bar experience and confident cocktails knowledge.
• Proven experience supervising or leading a shift.
• Excellent guest service skills.
• Ability to stay calm during busy periods and lead by example.

Responsibilities

• Lead restaurant and bar shifts, keeping service running smoothly.
• Support Restaurant & Bar Manager with daily operations.
• Hands-on behind the bar – cocktails, wines, spirits, beers and more.
• Maintain high standards of drink preparation and presentation.
• Recommend drinks and guide guests through the offering.
• Train and develop the team’s bar and service knowledge.
• Monitor stock, wastage, cleanliness and bar setup.
• Lead by example during busy services.
• Assist with inductions, training and rotas.

We’re looking for a Restaurant & Bar Supervisorto join the team at Bishopstrow – someone who can confidently lead a restaurant service, jump behind the bar when needed and help us create the kind of experience guests remember.

You might already be a Restaurant Supervisor, Bar Supervisor or experienced Bartender looking for your next step.

What matters most to us is that you’ve got good hands-on bar experience, confidence with cocktails, wines and spirits, and the personality to lead a team.

What you'll be doing

As our Restaurant & Bar Supervisor, you'll be right at the heart of the action.

You'll:

• Lead restaurant and bar shifts, keeping service running smoothly
• Support our Restaurant & Bar Manager with the day-to-day running of the department
• Get hands-on behind the bar – cocktails, wines, spirits, beers and everything in between
• Help maintain excellent standards of drink preparation and presentation
• Recommend drinks and confidently talk guests through our offering
• Support and train the team to improve their own bar and service knowledge
• Keep an eye on stock, wastage, cleanliness and bar setup
• Lead by example during busy services
• Help with inductions, training, rotas and team development
• Deal confidently with guest requests and resolve issues when they arise
• Share great feedback and keep the team motivated
• Bring your own ideas and experience – we genuinely want to hear them

What we're looking for

You'll ideally have experience in a quality hotel, restaurant, cocktail bar or similar hospitality environment.

Most importantly, you'll have:

• Strong bar experience
• Confidence making cocktails
• Good knowledge of wines, spirits and drinks service
• Previous experience supervising or leading a shift
• Great guest service skills
• Confidence working across both the restaurant and bar
• A positive, hands-on approach
• The ability to stay calm when it gets busy
• A desire to learn, develop and progress
