Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking four experienced Team Leader to join our Responsive Repairs team in Sheffield. You will lead a team of multi-skilled operatives delivering emergency, urgent and routine repairs, ensuring high quality, customer-focused service and safe, well-maintained homes for tenants.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will manage resources, monitor performance against targets, drive service improvements and promote a culture of safety and exceptional customer service

Qualifications

• Experience leading operational teams in repairs, maintenance or housing environments.
• Strong people management and leadership skills.
• Experience managing performance and driving service improvements.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance.
• Ability to analyse performance information and make effective decisions.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• Proficient in IT systems and performance management tools.
• Experience within social housing repairs.
• Supervisory or management qualification.
• Knowledge of housing maintenance systems and mobile working technology.
• Experience managing multi-trade workforces and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support a team of multi-skilled operatives and apprentices.
• Manage attendance, wellbeing, conduct and capability per policies.
• Provide coaching and regular performance reviews for staff development.
• Ensure operatives are deployed efficiently to meet service demand.
• Foster a positive culture focused on accountability and customer outcomes.
• Champion a customer-first approach across the service.
• Keep customers informed throughout the repair journey.
• Collaborate with Housing Services and other stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Monitor performance against service indicators and risks.
• Ensure repairs meet quality standards and timescales.
