Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a permanent part-time Respiratory Physiologist to join the Primary Care Research Hub hosted at Danes Camp Medical Centre. The role focuses on diagnostic lung function testing and research-support activities, with ARTP accreditation required.

Responsibilities include performance of spirometry and reversibility testing, lung volume and TLCO testing, FeNO and six-minute walk tests where trained, and maintaining quality-control records.

Qualifications

• Competency in diagnostic spirometry.
• Competency in bronchodilator reversibility testing.
• Competency in static lung-volume measurement.
• Competency in gas-transfer testing (TLCO/DLCO).
• Evidence of continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic spirometry.
• Undertake pre- and post-bronchodilator reversibility testing.
• Perform static lung-volume measurement and gas-transfer testing (TLCO/DLCO).
• Undertake FeNO, pulse oximetry and six-minute walk testing where trained.
• Ensure investigations meet ARTP and professional standards.
• Assess quality and reproducibility, and repeat inadequate tests.
• Provide technical/physiological reporting within scope.
• Recognise abnormal findings and escalation.
• Explain investigations and obtain patient consent.
• Calibrate and verify equipment; maintain records.
• Support protocol-defined respiratory investigations for research.
