Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Resource Manager to allocate and optimise legal resources across practice areas and client matters in the United Kingdom. You will strategically deploy lawyers to meet demand, balance development, and ensure compliance with professional standards, embedding resource management across departments.

Collaborating with HR, Finance, and COOs, you will build strong relationships, monitor utilisation, and deliver proactive staffing plans.

Job description

• Allocate and utilise lawyers effectively across practice areas and client matters
• Strategically deploy legal professionals to meet client demand
• Balance lawyer development, optimise billable hours and maintain compliance with professional standards
• Embed resourcing into departments as a new concept
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and develop and implement new processes
• Anticipate resourcing needs
• Assist Fee Earners with matter staffing based on utilisation, skillsets, team objectives and development needs
• Monitor workloads and anticipate pipeline challenges, absences and business priorities
• Provide management information and reports on utilisation and resourcing challenges
• Conduct regular associate check-ins about development needs and escalates concerns
• Integrate trainees, new joiners, secondees and returning colleagues into resource allocation processes
• Collaborate with resource managers and business teams to optimise resourcing
• Support diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and team culture
• Support change management and embed resource management in practice groups
• Liaise with HR Business Partners, Finance Business Partners and COOs on people performance and continuous process improvement
