Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEMH setting in the Stockton area. You’ll support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them feel safe and understood while working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams.

The role requires resilience, empathy and a patient approach, with a focus on building rapport and trust. It’s a temporary position with potential for extension in Specialist Education settings.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and build trust.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs and regulate emotions.
• Help students re-engage with learning alongside teachers and therapists.
• Be a calm, consistent presence throughout the day.
• Recognise progress, including non-academic achievements.
