Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a calm and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and other additional needs in Middlesbrough. You''ll work 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils regulate emotions, build relationships, and engage with learning.

The role offers immediate start options, supportive school teams, and access to CPD training, with pay through weekly PAYE. A relevant SEN qualification and an enhanced DBS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs.
• Confidence supporting students with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD and challenging behaviours.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach to managing behaviours and building relationships.
• Understanding of trauma-informed or restorative approaches is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH and other learning needs to build confidence and succeed.
• Provide consistency, encouragement, and a safe environment for learning.
• Work 1:1 or in small groups to provide tailored support.
• Help students develop emotional regulation and social skills.
