Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs.
• Experience in residential care, education, mental health or support work.
• Qualifications in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, Social Work or Psychology are desirable but not essential.
• Excellent communication, resilience, and safeguarding commitment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, supervision, and support to looked after children.
• Build positive, professional relationships that promote trust and stability.
• Support children with daily routines, personal care, education, social development, and activities.
• Follow individual care plans, behaviour support strategies, and risk management plans.
• Respond calmly to behaviours of concern using de-escalation and therapeutic approaches.
• Promote independence, communication, emotional regulation, and life skills development.
• Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and daily documentation per safeguarding standards.
• Collaborate with families, education providers, therapists, and external agencies.
• Participate in training and professional development.
