Job Description:

Being a Coach (also known as a Residential Support Worker, Children's Support Worker or Mental Health Advocate) at SuperCare South Park Drive, in Ilford offers a fulfilling opportunity to positively influence the lives of vulnerable children and young people. In this role, you'll help them become more independent, succeed in their education, and grow personally through various enjoyable activities in a safe environment. You'll collaborate closely with young people, their families, social workers, and other organizations to ensure everyone's needs are met, facilitating a smooth transition to adulthood.

Main Duties:

  • Direct work with young people, key working, and active participation in providing day-to-day care and support on a shift basis.
  • Working in partnership with young people, their social workers, carers, and relevant agencies.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and review Care Plans for young people preparing for greater independence.
  • Responsibility for the upkeep of the establishment regarding health, safety, and primary care issues, and making autonomous decisions about young people's requests and behavior during shifts.
  • Administrative work and record-keeping related to key working and daily operations of the home.
  • Encourage young people to take responsibility for their lives, keeping them informed, involving them in planning, and supporting their independence.
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and report them effectively.
  • Attend to daily needs such as bathing, feeding, and cooking for the young people.

Household Responsibilities:

  • Share practical activities necessary for maintaining the house.
  • Care for the fabric, equipment, and environment of the home.
  • Manage allocated funds responsibly.
  • Report repairs and ensure necessary actions are taken.

Personal Development:

  • Act as a role model and guide for young people.
  • Stay updated with good practices to develop skills and knowledge.
  • Utilize regular professional supervision.
  • Report malpractice or concerns to appropriate personnel.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other reasonable duties as requested.
  • Work shifts including weekends and bank holidays as per rota.
  • Be flexible to work at other properties as directed.

Requirements for Success:

  • Legal right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
  • Experience working with children/young people in an Ofsted-regulated environment.
  • Level 3 Diploma or higher, or working towards it.
  • Enhanced DBS Check and registration with the update service.
  • Full, clean driving license.
  • Ability to handle daily needs and activities of young people.
