Job summary

Cambian is seeking a Children’s Residential Care Worker in Somerset to support young people aged 8–18 in a home environment. You will help with daily routines, school preparation, activities and meals while building trusting relationships within a supportive team.

No prior experience is required; just a genuine passion for helping others. Comprehensive induction and ongoing training will be provided as part of a caring, safeguarding-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Applicants must pass an enhanced DBS check and provide references for the past two years.

Responsibilities

• Support young people in daily routines, including school prep, activities and meals.
• Assist with light housekeeping to create a warm home environment.
• Build relationships and provide emotional support during highs and lows.
• Participate in trips and activities such as park visits, board games or movies.
• Complete planning and documentation, including daily electronic records.
• Daily use of electronic care recording systems; training provided; familiarity with digital systems encouraged.

Pay & Benefits

• £13.19 - £13.81 + £30 per sleep ins
• Overtime paid at 1.25
• Sleep-in shifts: £3000 per annum (up to 10 shifts/month)

What You\'ll Do

• Support young people in their daily routines, including school preparation, activities, and meal times.
• Create a warm, homely environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks.
• Build relationships and provide emotional support during both highs and lows.
• Participate in fun, meaningful activities like trips to the park, board games, or movies.
• Complete essential planning and documentation.
• New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people\’s records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day‑to‑day role.
