Job description

Want to work in a children’s home that makes a positive, lasting difference in children’s lives? Are you an experienced Residential Worker or Youth Worker, or looking to build a career in residential care?

We need determined, caring, and thoughtful individuals to be lasting, significant adults in a child’s life. This could be the role for you.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Is 22 years of age or above (to meet Ofsted regulations).
  • Is caring, compassionate, and able to build positive relationships with others.
  • Has a valid manual driving licence.
  • Can remain calm in challenging situations.

Previous experience is not essential. Our Skills to Care induction includes two weeks of classroom-based training and a week of shadow shifts to prepare you for the role.

What will I do as a Residential Support Worker?

At Compass Homes, we accept children as they are in a non-judgemental way. You will help children experience childhood, build self-esteem, and accept themselves, supporting their journey into adulthood.

  • You will facilitate children’s activities and appointments, supporting their health, wellbeing, and safeguarding at all times.
  • You will meet a variety of children and young people, some requiring high levels of supervision and support.
  • You will assist with domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and shopping.
  • You will create timetables, manage paperwork, and write reports.
