Job summary

  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and staff to ensure comprehensive student support.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on students’ progress and well-being.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures to ensure safety and welfare of residents.

Residential Support Worker

Location: Kent
Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time
Salary: £90 to £180 per day via PAYE
Start Date: September 2026

The role

We are working in partnership with SEN Schools across Kent, committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for students with SEN. The residential support workers play a crucial role in creating a home‑away‑from‑home atmosphere, ensuring that every child receives the care and attention they need to thrive.

They have 3 timetables available which include morning, day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑quality care and support to children and young people with SEN in a residential setting.
  • Assist with daily routines, including personal care, meals and recreational activities.
  • Implement individualized care plans and educational programs.
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages social, emotional and educational development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on students’ progress and well‑being.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and ensure the safety and welfare of all residents.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience working with children and young people, preferably in a SEN or residential care setting.
  • Manual handling experience and training completed – THIS IS A MUST
  • A compassionate, patient and empathetic nature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and procedures.
