Description
To be part of a team of care staff supporting residential students to access the 24-hour curriculum at QAC by working towards set targets to develop students’ independent living skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and respect individual students’ rights, choices, personal dignity, privacy, and aspirations.
- Support personal care needs of students requiring assistance dressing, toileting, and washing.
- Comply with CQC Regulations related to residential care.
- Administer prescribed medication and homely remedies following QAC’s policies, and act immediately on medication errors.
- Support students with healthcare needs such as Diabetes and Epilepsy.
- Assist students with managing emotional and behavioural needs as per positive support plans, with support from the pastoral team.
- Promote good care practices and contribute to team work through effective communication and attendance at team meetings.
- Monitor daily support and achievements via the ‘Care Log’ system on Databridge MIS.
- Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, student reviews, and targets.
- Act as a designated key worker on a 1-1 basis with the student to achieve their targets.
- Participate in student progress reviews and transition planning.
- Communicate with students’ families and college staff regularly.
- Support students’ leisure activities and promote social inclusion.
- Maintain accurate record systems complying with regulations.
- Attend professional supervision and mandatory training.
- Be flexible with rota requirements, including sleep-ins with additional pay.
- Work under the guidance of Shift Leaders, Assistant Home Manager, and Home Manager.
- Familiarize with policies including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, and First Aid.
