Job summary

SCR in the North Devon/Barnstaple area is seeking passionate Children’s Support Workers to provide high-quality, person-centred care for 1–2 young people with complex SEMHD in a safe, nurturing home environment.

The role requires a minimum of 6 months’ experience with children or young people, a full UK driving licence, and an Enhanced DBS check as part of safeguarding processes. The position is permanent and involves day-to-evening shifts with sleep-ins.

Children’s Support Workers

We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Children’s Support Workers to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, providing high-quality care and emotional support in a safe, nurturing environment.

Home is Located around North Devon (Barnstaple area), location will be given if successful for interview process

As a Children’s Support Worker, you will play a key role in promoting the emotional well‑being, independence, and rights of the young people in your care. Working as part of a supportive team, you will help ensure that every child feels safe, respected, and empowered. The home currently support between 1 and 2 young people with complex SEMHD.

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering consistent, high-quality care in line with individual care plans
• Supporting the emotional, behavioural, and social development of young people
• Helping young people make informed choices and develop life skills
• Maintaining a safe, structured, and non-judgemental environment

Shift Pattern:

• 8am - 11pm
• 2 on 4 off (2 x 24 hour shifts with sleep ins followed by 4 days off)

Requirements:

• A minimum of 6 months experience working with children or young people in a similar setting
• A full UK driving licence
• A calm, committed, compassionate, and empathetic nature
• A proactive and resilient approach with a strong “can-do” attitude
