Children's Residential Social Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Residential Social Workers to join our team within our 2-bed residential children's home. Lifestyles provides young people in care with individualized therapeutic residential services within Northern Ireland. Our mission is to support our young people in the best way possible. To achieve this, we employ experienced, passionate, and qualified staff who support young people affected by trauma, on medium to long-term basis, aiming for a transition into less intensive care models.

Our service values focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment, being supportive, responsive, and empowering our young people to thrive. We support their personal, social, and educational development. The children and young people involved in our services may sometimes display challenging behaviors. We are hiring for our property in Dromore, Co. Down, a large, detached house designed for 2 young people aged 7-12.

Job Purpose

As a Residential Social Worker, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to create a therapeutic and safe environment where young people feel secure, cared for, and nurtured. Your role involves building positive relationships, assessing needs and strengths, and finding innovative solutions to challenges faced by young people.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Use person-centered approaches and trauma-informed practices to work towards positive outcomes.
  2. Collaborate with children's services, health agencies, and community-based services to provide effective support.
  3. Manage complex cases and situations within the service.
  4. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, safe practice.
  5. Apply safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree in Social Work
  • Registered with the relevant professional body (e.g., NISCC) before employment starts
  • Full UK driving license

Desirable:

  • Awareness of challenges impacting vulnerable children and young people
  • Knowledge of personal, social, and educational development
  • Experience working with children presenting challenging behaviors
  • Experience applying safeguarding policies

What We Offer
  • Salary: £32,000 - £34,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

Hours & Working Pattern

38 hours per week on a rota including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties.
