Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join a PLC housebuilder in Northampton. You will take responsibility for commercial management of allocated new-build developments, working with procurement through to final accounts to keep projects on budget.

You will monitor development costs, forecasts, and subcontract packages, produce cost-to-complete reports, and contribute to risk mitigation through accurate cost data and clear commercial reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within housebuilding or residential construction.
• Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, valuations and final accounts.
• Experience managing budgets and preparing commercial reports.
• Confident negotiation and communication skills.
• Organised and proactive with meticulous attention to detail.
• Good working knowledge of Excel and reporting systems.
• Qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage development budgets and monitor expenditure.
• Prepare cost-to-complete forecasts for projects.
• Produce regular cost-value reconciliations and reports.
• Prepare tender enquiries and analyse quotations.
• Negotiate subcontract packages and place orders.
• Assess and agree subcontractor valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Monitor site progress and attend commercial meetings.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities for cost savings.
• Review drawings for financial impact of changes.
• Maintain records and manage payments per procedures.
