Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of residential conveyancing transactions from instruction to completion.

• Liaise with clients, estate agents, lenders and other solicitors to progress transactions.
• Ensure files are managed in accordance with SRA requirements and timely billing.

Residential Conveyancing Lawyer

Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire

Salary - £60,000 - £80,000

Working Pattern: Full-time, Hybrid

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Residential Conveyancing Lawyer to join our team on a full-time, hybrid basis. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of residential property matters, providing high-quality legal advice and excellent client service. The role will cover residential sales and purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.

You will work closely with clients, estate agents, lenders and other solicitors to progress transactions efficiently from instruction through to completion, while maintaining high standards of compliance, file management and communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of residential conveyancing transactions from instruction through to completion.
• Handle residential sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.
• Draft, review and advise on contracts and related legal documentation.
• Conduct title investigations and identify potential legal risks.
• Review searches and raise and respond to enquiries.
• Advise clients clearly on legal, financial and practical risks.
• Liaise with clients, estate agents, lenders, brokers and other solicitors.
• Ensure transactions progress efficiently and within agreed timescales.
• Meet lender requirements and comply with relevant regulatory obligations.
• Maintain accurate case management, file and billing records.
• Ensure files are managed in accordance with SRA requirements and relevant policies and procedures.
• Provide clear, timely and professional communication to clients.
• Participate in team meetings, knowledge sharing and training.
• Contribute to process improvements and business development activities.

About You

You will be a qualified solicitor, licensed conveyancer or legal executive with demonstrable experience in residential conveyancing. You should have:

• Strong knowledge of residential property law and conveyancing procedures.
• Experience in title review, searches, enquiries, contracts and lender requirements.
• Excellent client care and communication skills.
• The ability to explain complex legal matters clearly and in accessible language.
• Proven ability to manage a varied caseload independently and efficiently.
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to prioritise competing deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• Competence in using case management systems, Microsoft Office and digital tools.

Working Environment
