Job description

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Residential Property paralegal to join our growing team in the Bristol office.

You will be supporting the qualified fee-earners in managing a caseload of high quality and often complex residential property transactions.

We would be particularly interested in hearing from individuals with experience in residential property.

Day to Day Responsibilities

You will be working on a wide range of property purchases, sales, transfers of equity and mortgage related work, dealing with both freehold and leasehold properties.

We deal with a broad range of property types, to include high value urban property, large rural properties, listed buildings and unregistered property. You will have plenty of client contact, with clients who choose to instruct us to benefit from a high quality, tailored service and you will develop your client relationship skills to meet their expectations.

Initially supporting more senior colleagues with discrete tasks, you will build your experience to be able to run your own transactions (subject to supervision). Using our file management software you should quickly be able to develop your experience and legal skills. The work will include:

  • Production of contract packages
  • Drafting transfer documents and deeds of covenant
  • Searches at the land registry, local authority, utility companies
  • Assisting with collecting and analysing anti -money laundering and source of funding documentation
  • Land registry applications and SDLT returns
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents and lenders

Based in a friendly and supportive team, this role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your property career.

It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.

About You

You will ideally have some experience within residential property and to be successful in this role, you will have a genuine passion in assisting clients and pursuing a career in this area.

You’ll need a strong intellect to succeed in this role, so we will be looking for a corresponding level of consistent academic achievement. You’ll also need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills. The work requires self-motivation, resilience and the ability to work to demanding deadlines.

You will relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class support service to your fee earners and clients alike, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.

Finally, legal practice is about people and this is very much a team orientated role.
