Job summary

Think FE is recruiting a Residential Experience Officer in Northamptonshire to join the student support team. The role focuses on creating a safe, inclusive living environment, organising activities that foster community, and providing pastoral support to help students develop independence and belonging.

You'll work Monday to Friday, 2pm–9pm, with a permanent contract and a salary of £24,900–£26,400 per annum.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and active listening skills.
• Experience in residential, pastoral, youth work or student support roles.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confidently addressing challenging behaviours in a calm, professional manner.
• Empathetic approach with ability to build positive relationships.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, inclusive and safe residential environment for students.
• Organise and supervise social, sporting and volunteering activities to encourage participation and community engagement.
• Provide pastoral support and be a trusted contact for students with welfare concerns.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence and student wellbeing.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and college policies to maintain a secure environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and external agencies to ensure appropriate support.
