Job summary

Shaw Trust is seeking a Residential Support Worker to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of young people in care. You will provide daily care, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and supporting independence in skills like budgeting and shopping.

You will encourage participation in community activities, maintain safety per Ofsted standards, and act as a positive role model while transporting youths to school and appointments.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Willingness to work towards QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (fully funded).
• Honesty, empathy, and a commitment to being a positive role model.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of young people in care.
• Provide daily care and support including cooking, cleaning, budgeting and shopping.
• Encourage participation in community activities and hobbies.
• Maintain a safe environment following company procedures and Ofsted regulations.
• Build positive relationships and be a role model for emotional and behavioural regulation.
• Transport young people to school, appointments, activities and social outings.
• Maintain accurate records and liaise with management, social workers and other professionals.
• Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins (1–2 per week).
• Full UK driving license is essential.
