Job summary

Max Emerald Ltd is seeking dedicated Residential Workers for a Children’s Home. You will support care and development, using personal experience to help children reach their potential. You may handle challenging behaviour with de-escalation techniques, and full in-house training is provided.

You will contribute to care planning, education access, and family contact, working shifts across a 7-day rota, including some weekends and on-call sleep-ins as required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children/young people in paid or voluntary roles or residential care.
• Understanding of equality, diversity, and rights.
• Ability to use technology to record key client information.
• Ability to contribute to care plans and reviews.
• Encourage identity development in young people.
• Willingness to develop knowledge across direct working practices.
• Understanding of managing challenging behaviour and de-escalation.
• Basic understanding of child development and rights.

Responsibilities

• Directly support children/young people within the home and ensure regulatory codes are followed.
• Contribute to planning, assessments and development of care plans.
• Help children/young people make daily life decisions.
• Work with colleagues to provide a healthy, homely environment.
• Support independence development for adulthood.
• Assist in achieving outcomes for children/young people.
• Facilitate contact with families.
• Support education access and interests.
• Develop skills to shift lead.
• Annual targets defined in performance framework.
