Job summary

Excel & Emerge Care seeks a dedicated Children’s Residential Care Worker to support children and young people in a safe, structured setting in Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe. You will work within a team, following care plans and safeguarding protocols to provide day-to-day care and emotional support.

The role emphasises trauma-informed, therapeutic approaches, professional boundaries and strong record-keeping, with shifts including weekends and sleep-ins.

Qualifications

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Reliability, resilience and professionalism are required.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Strong observation and accurate written record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Understanding safeguarding and children's welfare is important.
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Applicants must be aged 21 or over.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Provide consistent day-to-day care and emotional support.
  • Support routines, activities, education and personal development.
  • Encourage independence and life skills.
  • Follow individual care plans and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records and daily reports.
  • Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
  • Respond to challenging situations and behaviours appropriately.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families and external professionals.
  • Align with the home's standards and Ofsted expectations.
  • Participate in shifts, including weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.
