Job summary

Outbound Care Limited in Blackpool is seeking a Team Leader / Residential Care Worker to lead a small staff team and supervise daily operations in a residential setting for young people. The role requires mentoring, promoting life skills, and ensuring compliance with care plans, risk assessments, and house routines.

You will support young people, manage challenging behaviours, and collaborate with social workers and healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality safeguarding and regulatory

Qualifications

• Experience in residential childcare, youth work, or social care, preferably in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Strong skills in team coordination, shift planning, and staff supervision, with the ability to provide guidance and constructive feedback.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people, promote independence, and manage challenging situations safely.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, regulatory standards, and health and safety requirements within residential care settings.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including accurate record-keeping and report writing.
• Relevant qualification in health and social care, youth work, or a related field (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent), or willingness to work toward such a qualification.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts as required.
• Basic IT skills for recording, reporting, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Enhanced suitability to work with young people, including the ability to obtain an enhanced DBS check or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily operations within a residential setting for young people.
• Supervising and supporting a small staff team, organizing shifts.
• Ensuring care plans, risk assessments, and house routines are followed.
• Providing direct support to young people, mentoring, promoting life skills, and facilitating education and activities.
• Managing challenging behaviours in a calm, consistent manner.
• Maintaining accurate records and reporting to management and relevant authorities as required.
• Collaborating with external professionals, such as social workers, educators, and healthcare providers.
