Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Painter and Decorator for Kyloe House, Stannington. The role is primarily painting and decorating with a multi-skilled maintenance focus across residential homes.

You will work in occupied settings, ensuring high standards, safety, and a respectful environment for young people and staff. The post requires Level 2-3 in painting/decorating or equivalent, a full UK driving licence, and flexibility to cover multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Level 2-3 qualification in painting, decorating, tiling or equivalent experience.
• Ability to use handheld IT equipment to receive and complete tasks.
• Ability to work safely at height with ladders and equipment.
• Flexible to work across Kyloe House and other Northumberland homes.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment at all times.
• Good understanding of health and safety, including COSHH.
• Strong communication and professional manner.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Paint and decorate; contribute to maintenance tasks across homes.
• Patch, basic tiling, joinery, and simple plumbing as needed.
• Work in occupied residential care settings with professionalism.
• Maintain consistent high standards and safety across sites.
• Support apprentices or work experience placements as required.
• Engage positively with staff and young people in the homes.
