Job summary

Templer HomeBuild in Newton Abbot is seeking a competent Building Surveyor to join our Building Safety and Technical team. You will carry out technical surveys, diagnose defects and manage works through to completion across a varied housing stock.

Role focuses on applying building pathology knowledge, preparing specifications and reports, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and CDM. Driving licence required and APC development supported.

Qualifications

• Building surveying experience, ideally in residential housing and capital projects.
• Level 5 Building Surveying qualification or equivalent construction degree, with willingness to work towards Level 6 and Chartered Membership.
• Strong knowledge of building pathology, construction, defects and compliance.
• Experience managing contractors and project delivery.
• Ability to prepare specifications, reports and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out property surveys, inspections, feasibility studies and risk assessments across our housing stock.
• Diagnosing building defects, including damp, mould, structural issues and other building pathology concerns.
• Preparing reports, specifications, schedules of work, drawings and recommendations.
• Ensuring compliance with Building Regulations, Housing Standards, CDM and other relevant legislation.
• Managing projects from start to finish, including quality, budgets, performance and contractor compliance.
• Undertaking site inspections and project meetings, providing technical advice throughout delivery.
