Job summary

Linde MH UK Ltd, part of STILL Materials Handling, is seeking a on-site Service Technician to service/repair material handling equipment on customer sites in the Newport area. You will ensure stock, parts, and paperwork are accurate, perform inspections, and liaise with the Service Controller and customers to keep everyone updated.

Responsibilities

• Servicing/Repairs material handling equipment on site.
• Ordering of parts and ensuring stock levels/movement records are accurate.
• Dispose of waste products relating to repair/service of MHE using approved waste disposal companies.
• Ensure automated system & paperwork is completed accurately & within the stipulated time with relevant order numbers.
• Monitor site stock for day-to-day maintenance of the fleet.
• Keep servicing & WIP up to date.
• Maintain a safe working environment and follow site rules and regulations at all times.
• Report unsafe practices or hazards immediately.
• Provide reliable information to customers regarding maintenance and repairs, and advise on equipment use.
• Carry out inspections and monitor safety of repaired/maintained trucks.
• Liaise with Service Controller, customer and Service Manager to share information on forklifts/equipment and updates on repairs.
• Work closely with sales & STR team and refer leads.
• Complete job sheets, timesheets and purchase requisitions within required timescale.
• Propose improvements to work activities and conditions.
• Take responsibility for equipment and tooling and ensure it is safe and clean for the work.
• Check van weight and roadworthiness when required.
• Work to KPI’s related to service, admin and stock.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Participate in training days and meetings for information exchange.
• Familiarise with policies & procedures of Linde MH UK Ltd/STILL Materials Handling Ltd and adhere to them.
• Attend training courses to stay up to date on equipment.
• Liaise with customers to maximise MHE uptime & satisfaction.
• Liaise with STR controller and assist with STR fleet management on site.
• Maintain records on VOR machines, battery repairs, and topping and circulate to relevant people.
• Carry out risk assessments and develop safe working practices in line with health and safety legislation.
• Support the development of engineers through mentoring and training.
• Undertake additional training/qualifications offered by Linde MH UK Ltd/STILL Materials Handling Ltd.
• Keep line manager informed of site developments or changing customer needs.

Job description

• Ordering of parts as efficiently as possible & ensure all stock levels/movement records are accurate & correct
• To dispose of all waste products relating to the repair/service of the MHE using approved waste disposal companies
• Ensure automated system & all paperwork is completed accurately & within the stipulated time period & with the relevant order numbers
• To ensure site stock is monitored/counted and sufficient for the day to day maintenance of the fleet
• Ensure servicing & WIP are kept up to date
• Maintain a safe working environment & work in a safe manner, ensuring site rules and regulations are followed at all times
• Report any unsafe practices or potential hazards immediately
• To provide reliable information to the customer with regards to maintenance, consultation on repairs and to provide advice on the use of equipment.
• To carry out inspections and monitor the safety of the repaired and maintained trucks
• To liaise with the Service Controller, customer and Service Manager to ensure information regarding individual forklifts and equipment is shared including damage or requests for a replacement truck in the event of a long repair, as well as keeping all relevant parties up to date with the progress of work activities
• To work closely with the sales & STR team and refer leads
• To accurately complete job sheets, timesheets and purchase requisitions and parts paperwork within the required timescale
• To make proposals for the improvement of the implementation of work activities and work conditions
• To take responsibility for all equipment and tooling (including van/laptop/printer etc) and ensure that it is in a safe, clean condition for the type of work being undertaken. where van is required due to site requirements
• To take responsibility for van weight and safe/roadworthy condition before use. where van is required due to site requirements
• To work to and understand KPI's relating to service, admin and stock
• To ensure that a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times
• To actively participate in training days, work meetings, and other meetings for the exchange of information
• To maintain familiarization with Linde MH UK Ltd/STILL Materials Handling Ltd policies & procedures & adhere to these. E.g. IT Policy, absence policy etc.
• To attend training courses to maintain up to date knowledge of equipment
• Liaise direct with customer to maintain maximum MHE up time & customer satisfaction
• Liaise with STR controller and assist with management of STR fleet on site
• Ensure that records relating to VOR machines, battery repairs, and battery topping are kept up to date and circulated to relevant people
• Carry out risk assessments on all work processes and develop safe working practices in accordance with current health and safety legislation
• Support the development of engineers through practical training and mentoring
• Undertake additional training and/or qualifications provided by Linde MH UK Ltd/STILL Materials Handling Ltd.
• Make your line manager aware of any site developments or changes in customer needs
